Having been in Thailand 2 weeks, I am beginning to understand the scene here.

It’s early days, but a few basics seem to be evident. I’ll be happy to hear from people who can take my understanding to a higher level.

I’m living in a PU area. It’s full of bars, clubs and pubs. You walk along the street and see western guys hanging out with Thai HBs. There seems a thin line between who is a working girl and who is a girlfriend with a liking for having money on the side.

That’s one level of relationship – Western guy meets Thai girl. They get involved. He has the money and initially, he might have been unsure of her status but he learns she is LTR material and she learns he has the money she thought he did. Plus he is LTR material in the sense he is not too old, is reasonable looking at least and is able to manage a relationship in the long term.

Then there are the one hit wonders. This refers to guys and girls who are looking for the fun and the thrill of it. Admittedly, I lack understanding of the girls’ side of this deal. It’s something I am interested in – in the sense I want to meet quality girls who have personality and are not looking for money but who appreciate value for its own sake.

Another category are the western chicks. This is a problem area in that there are so few of them available. Most western chicks coming to Thailand are with western guys.

Ask yourself why western girls don’t tend to pursue Thai guys! It was the same when I lived in Sweden with a Swedish HB. All the foreigners in a relationship seemed to be English/USA/Australian/Canadian guys with Swedish girls and almost never Swedish guys with USA/UK etc girls. The reason is deep but seemed to me, at the time, to be about excitement versus stability. The Swedish girls liked the excitement of a foreign guy when they are young but chose a boring, stable Swedish guy (or beta-ized a formerly free foreign English type) in later life e.g. in late 20s and 30s when she wanted to have a kid.

I’ll keep studying the Thailand scene and perhaps will specialise more in group set theory (my old area of expertise) when getting involved in western mixed sets to pick off and pick up the western female.

The Thai girls are often physically hot – in shape and genetically physically attractive but they seem quite (overly?) available. Cialdini’s scarcity rule applies – that which is less available is often what we want more.

The other area of exploration is to sarge high class Thai areas e.g. upmarket malls and restaurants where the patrons are richer and are educated about the wider world.
